Shakedown to Cullen

Took the Impreza out today for a short run along the Moray Coast to Cullen. Nice part of the world this!

Always wanted to go for a wander over the famous dis-used railway viaduct, So spur of the moment thing.

Also, first time in a while the scoob has been back on the road and gone further than just a couple miles… Been chasing few different fuel leaks in recent weeks (rhyming not intended). happy to report all is well!

Happy 20th Birthday Scooby!

Happy 20th Birthday Scooby

Adopted you when you were just 5 years old, Been up and down the UK multiple times together. Round the north of Scotland even more times. And that was before it was known as the NC500!. Met some good friends along the way, and lost some… 😢

Still one of the best drivers cars on the road. Absolutely bonkers with a great sense of theatre! It’s not just a drive, it’s an experience!

Yet it will quite happily cruise on the open road. Getting you form A to B without silly electronics getting in the way of the connection between the driver and the road.

Seems like you’ve been with me for two lifetimes already! Both had multiple operations to keep us going in the last 15 years and still, we fight on! Here’s to future adventures!

#forGillz …wish you were here x x
…. she loved that car, almost more than me! 💔

Snowbaru

Subaru doing what Subarus do best today!

Transporting family to get their Covid-19 vaccine in poor road conditions!

My 2014 Subaru XV/Crosstrek 2.0 Diesel

On the way home, pulled into the side of the snowdrifts a couple of times to allow other cars to pass, and continued to drive out with no fuss. There was deeper snow earlier but the dashcam didn’t record it 🙁

The same stretch of road was blocked on and off through the afternoon due to other vehicles getting stuck. Not a problem for the scoob! 🙂

Added New Content!

Just added a few new pages to the garage section of the website.

Still need to go through the text and perhaps make them a bit more reader friendly. They were extracted from some forum posts I made years ago about the wee Scooby projects I was working at that time.

Anyhoo some of the more fun / interesting ones:

Plottering

Been plotting again..Have been wanting to make some kick plates for the XV for ages.

Finally got round to bringing the plotter and leftover vinyl down from the loft.

Ok.. I admit it, it was a hot day and i went up there for a fan. Spotted the plotter in the corner and got carried away.

Subaru Leaving the BTCC

Sad to see Subaru leaving the BTCC. T’Was a force to be reckoned ever since the first season with Ash Sutton at the wheel! Despite trying to penalise it by restricting power and adding weight for being too quick!

But since the boxer engine in a smaller car (Impreza?) Would somehow not meet new regulations it’s bye bye 🙁

… Ok let’s face it, the car had an unfair advantage due to the low center of gravity. Not cheating just naturally better weight distribution for Motorsport, and for on the road driving!

XV Winter Prep

The annual underbelly power wash and under seal on the XV. Just in time before winter set in with its nasty salty roads!

It’s not just the top side that needs looking after !

Hand wire brushed to remove flaky stuff.
Degreesed/power washed.
Left to try before applying Dinitrol 4941 underseal.

Cars and Coffee Cullen – September 2019

First proper trip out in the Scooby since it was back on the road. Along the Moray coast to the local Cars and Coffee at Cullen!

Good selection of cars! Brilliant weather and scenery for photos! Refreshments supplied by Coffee at the Kings!

First XV road trip adventure of the year

Couple days away up into the Highlands of Scotland taking in some of the road often missed out by the NC500. #VisitScotland
